This is a pretty quick recipe and they are such a crowd pleaser. If you have a larger group I would recommend doubling because I could eat a ton of these myself! They are that good:) Hope you enjoy!
- ⅓ cup all purpose flour
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 egg
- ⅔ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 11oz soft goat cheese log
- 2-4 cups oil for frying (grapeseed, canola or vegetable)
- 1-3 tbsp honey for drizzling (Beeyond the Hive is best!)
- 2 tbsp fresh chives (minced)
-
Combine flour and black pepper in a small bowl.
-
Whisk the egg, salt and 2 tbsp of water in another small bowl.
-
Put your panko breadcrumbs in another small bowl.
-
Next, roll your goat cheese into small balls and place them on a cookie sheet.
-
Roll each ball in the flour mix, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs coating evenly. Freeze for 20 minutes or until they are firm.
-
Once the balls are slightly firm, heat up your oil in a deep saucepan to medium/high heat. Around 350 degrees.
-
Fry them in small batches for 1-3 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Set them on a paper towel lined plate to sop up any extra grease.
-
Dish them up on a pretty platter, drizzle with some honey (Beeyond the Hive is best!) then sprinkle the chives on top. Serve and enjoy immediately:)
