Goat Cheese Poppers with Honey
Course: Appetizer
Servings: 12 people
Author: The Honey Girl
Ingredients
  • cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 11oz soft goat cheese log
  • 2-4 cups oil for frying (grapeseed, canola or vegetable)
  • 1-3 tbsp honey for drizzling (Beeyond the Hive is best!)
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives (minced)
Instructions
  1. Combine flour and black pepper in a small bowl.

  2. Whisk the egg, salt and 2 tbsp of water in another small bowl.

  3. Put your panko breadcrumbs in another small bowl.

  4. Next, roll your goat cheese into small balls and place them on a cookie sheet.

  5. Roll each ball in the flour mix, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs coating evenly. Freeze for 20 minutes or until they are firm.

  6. Once the balls are slightly firm, heat up your oil in a deep saucepan to medium/high heat. Around 350 degrees.

  7. Fry them in small batches for 1-3 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Set them on a paper towel lined plate to sop up any extra grease.

  8. Dish them up on a pretty platter, drizzle with some honey (Beeyond the Hive is best!) then sprinkle the chives on top. Serve and enjoy immediately:)
