Bee Green. Bee Smart. Bee Healthy.
[Photo] California Almond OrchardAlbert Einstein once said: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men.”

Keep the hive alive! Honey bees are incredible creatures this we know! But did you know that bees are a great indicator of any environmental imbalances? Raise your hand if you enjoy any of the following: almonds, apples, oranges, peaches, pumpkins, sunflowers, blueberries, avocados and soybeans. Delicious, right? You can thank honey bees for that long list of goodness, as these hardworking insects are responsible for pollinating more than 100 crops nationwide—or in other words, $15 billion worth of U.S. agriculture.

Here at Beeyond the Hive we highly encourage you to support your beekeepers in any way you possibly can!

Bee Green - find creative ways to become eco-friendly because by helping the Earth’s environment will also help maintain the health of our honey bees.

Bee Smart - make sure you are buying honey that is from a reliable source. The best honey you can buy is from the beekeepers themselves! At Beeyond the Hive you know you are buying honey that comes from our hives and goes directly to your home!

Bee Healthy - research has shown that unlike other sweeteners, honey contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. Honey is a rich source of carbohydrates and provides a quick source of energy. By eating more honey you help beekeepers and their hives stay alive!
Bee In The Know!
[Photo] Honey Cold RemedyWondering what our bees are doing at the moment?

Well, they have just finished another successful pollination season out in California and they are anxiously awaiting their return to beautiful Colorado!

We are well into our spring work which consists of boosting the strength of each and every hive. We make sure the queen is working to her full potential, equalize any hives that are too weak or too strong, and make sure they are simply happy and healthy!

Although the spring work is tough and tedious, we have an incredible time looking through thousands of hives trying to determine what we can do to increase their health and immunity. Sometime around the first week of May we will put our bees on several semis and ship them off to their homeland of Colorado. Once they arrive we will place them in their summer locations which will be in Northern Colorado as well as some new locations along the Western slope!

I think our bees are ready for a change of scenery and they are ready to make their sweet tasting honey that you all have come to love and enjoy!

Check out Jamie’s new blog about all the crazy semi drivers we encounter in California! The Secret Life of Jamie will surely make you laugh!

Also take a look at Jacy’s newest videos taken one morning before we started our spring work! We are a bunch of characters but you will be entertained!

Helpful Hint: By helping Mother Earth you will also help sustain the honey bee population. We encourage you to plant beautiful bee-friendly plants in your yard this spring to increase the existence of the native honey bee. Plants such as lavender, glory bushes, jasmine, rosemary, violets, thyme, wisteria, bluebells, sunflowers, and cone flowers will attract the honeybees and humans alike!

[Photo] Spiral Honey Ham Ingredients:
1 ripe banana, peeled
1-2 teaspoons honey
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 handful of fresh spinach leaves
½ teaspoon bee pollen for added protein
(optional…PLEASE make sure you have taken bee pollen before!)

Toss banana, honey, orange juice, and spinach leaves into the blender. Blend until smooth and frothy. **This recipe may sound weird but you must try it! I personally drink it every morning because I don’t get enough green vegetables during the day! It is also great for kids who hate to eat salads! You will love it!
